Have an Idea for a Cool Code? « Thread Started on Aug 28, 2009, 1:30pm »
Hello esteemed members!
I'm always on the look out for new and original code ideas. So, if you have an idea for the next "greatest/coolest" code, reply in this thread! Describe your idea as best as you can. If it is something truly original, I will include your name in the code header!

Is this acceptable:
Ability to change the font and font size for the entire board (if it doesnt already exisit).
I know you can change the font in the Modify Skin Section, but some sort of drop down with available fonts, and a drop down to change their sizes would be fab.

Macc
pop-ups background image ?
Weren't you using some sort of a forum font resize code in PRUK? I seem to remember seeing a drop-down jump for it... And if so, why didn't you like it? And where did you get it?

I know we sure could use some new, fresh mini profile codes..I wish I could code,lol..I would be all over that type of thing..I have been searching for sooooooo long for something decent! I really liked the Unchain your mini profile code but it stopped working somehow,lol..
I think something with an activity meter in it,head and base images of course and hell, since that sweet ass code was made to make the admin editable background image was made I need a new mini profile badly,lol.. All the codes I can find are way goofy and waaaay old. Like made in 05-07..its 09 now and we really need some sweet up to date ones.I preffer to ONLY have codes made here now as well but so far we dont have enough to cover everything yet,all in due time,lol..
Heck,I would like something like the one used here even..

LMAO Dave! Thanks for the compliments! And believe me, there IS a mini profile code in the works. It is in the planning stages right now. Actually, I started a thread in the staff area (deep down in the bat cave), just for this purpose... "What things do you want in YOUR perfect mini-profile code?". The staff put forth ton's of things to include. Just any idea is thrown in there. The problem is, I have to balance code size, practicality, useful functions, visual setup etc... Some of the "add-on" codes for mini-profile stuff are quite large just to accomplish one tiny task. But, of course I want to see ALL ideas! And then decide from a big pool!
Off the bat, my main option would be to split the mini-profile into two sections with the avatar separate (like you see now) with 2 sets of head/base images. Or, one set of head/base with everything in one section. Your choice.
Second, the ability to change/replace any of the words in the mini-profile with different text, an image or anything you wish. Nice...
Third, add the ability for the admin to add their own section of HTML if they desire. Make your own "special" sections. Heck... with this option, you could even embed objects in there. That means flash, movies, maybe a mini mp3 player in your miniprofile, that a user could select one song. (of course it would NOT be on autoplay!). Anything... Dang, that just gave me another idea...
Forth, some options that I always use with any mini-profile code, is a Default Avatar and linking the Avatar to the "View Profile" page.
This is just for starters. And these are the items that I have so far on my "list". I believe these alone would make this a very customizable code. And more "up to date" than most of them out there...

well now that I got my jaw back in place "the whole customization idea, not a gay thing,lol.."
#1. I would preffer the two sets of head/base images.
#2. I LOVE your default avatar idea!
#3. The admin extras sound sweeeet!
#4. The change of text is way sweeet!
#5. I would like it to have or of course be compatable with the code you just made,Where we can set up different background images for each person "The admin chooses" That code is awesome bro! But make sure to mention what the dimentions are for it, for easier custom backgrounds like 200x700 or whatever it would be,lol..
#6. I am sooo glad you got into making codes bro! Also glad we worked out our little problem man from back in the day,you rock! It would be sweet to ONLY have your codes on my board dude! Your already better than you know who..

Like when you give a staff member the power to edit members profiles. Even if a member has their email hidden, when the staff member edits their profile they can see it. It just something that annoys me because I need staff to edit the members usergroups..but I dont trust them well enough to be able to have the power to change their emails

Not even the Admin of the forum can change a members email address. I just confirmed it by trying it on another forum I have. It allows me to type in another email address and save changes ... however, the email never gets changed.

Something that could be kickass here would be a WYSIWYG editor..... which is basically what we have now but when we add UBBC, the tags don't appear, the words actually bold or underline.

Blu and Ikat are both right. Their email won't get changed. Ikat... you didn't have the complete answer. Here is the issue as I see it.
(Thanks to BluEyz for the help in testing the below!)
This is a privacy issue. It is exactly like Nikki posted. A mod with the power to modify a profile and is not allowed to see hidden emails or hidden birthdays, CAN see the email and/or their age. The mod also has access to the option to make either option visible to all. Now with the hidden birthday, it is indeed hidden on "View Profile" and the "Modify Profile" page. But the option "Show Age" is still there and can be changed to visible, then the mod and all can see it. I'm not sure if ProBoards is aware of this issue.
I have already written a code to take care of this. The email address box is removed and also the option(s) on the "Modify Profile" page, IF the member has set them to hidden. I'm testing it now, and will post it soon.

EDIT: Oh and Ikat... I'm kicking that idea for a referral code around in my head.

Yeah Im glad that they won't be able to modify the email but I still have a problem with them even being able to see the email once they go to modify.
