How to Use Table Tags in Reply Box

How do you use the vertical table tag?

I tried a bunch of ways to get it to work, but no luck. Would someone be willing to show me how to use it? Your help will be immensely appreciated :-*

I don't think I would ever have been able to figure that one out by myself. Even with your example, it took me three or four tries. Got it now, though!

That code is a Masterpiece! And a great example of how you used the table tags! Your talent, and knowledge of coding, absolutely amazes me, SubDevo :o

Below is an example of the reason I want to learn how to use the table tags. My forum is still under renovations for now, but when it is reopened, doing the Top Posters of the Month chart will continue to be a tedious task if I don't try to find another way to do it:

Just butting in briefly - I'll be gone soon ;)

I use a constantly (every few days) changing table on my main site and know an easy way to do it..... Have you got Excel or similar ? If so , I'll explain....

I don't think I have Excel (I'll have to check later)...but even if I do, I wouldn't know how to use it. Every semester I think about taking a class on computers, but never actually do it. Originally, I just played games on my computer. Then later got interested in message boards, and finally got a forum of my own. I'm learning how to do things for my forum "as I go." Always willing to get advice and computer tips from anyone willing to share! *hugs*

LA33 - If you don't have Excel, you could try :
http://www.openoffice.org/ as I believe it works in the same way (it's free!).
You can do your table in Excel or OO without all the hassle of the table tags etc and sort your table by which ever column you want. It's then as easy as coping/pasting to this site:

http://tableizer.journalistopia.com/

Which will produce a HTML table that you can customise through CSS. This can then go in your sidetables etc or even in a post if you use SubDevo's HTML in posts for certain members code.
I'll come back with some more info if needed.

Great tips! I'll have to try that open office site! Getting that Top Poster chart simplified is one of my goals for improving my website!

Thanks so much, Pebble :-*

Speed just may kiss you for that info Pebble! :D We were just talking about something similar. But I told him you would need a code to auto sort the data correctly. Which you would need if you want the user to be able to sort different columns on the fly. Similar to the Code Index here. But for a static data table, that is definitely the way to go! I have never used Excel/MS Office so I would not have even thought of that method. Good "workaround"! 8-) Now, pucker up Speed! ;D lmao

IDT I will go that far. But yes after I get it figured out for what I want it to look like and so forth that should work very nicely.

SubDevo, this is the progress I've made so far on my chart experiment. But I don't know how to keep the box look around the "Names of Members Posting", "Jul 30", Aug 30" and "Total Posts," like in this example of your table. How can I get it like yours?

Please, and thank you, for your kind help :)

Is this the code you mean? How do I get the code to show up, not just the result?
And why is it showing up out of alignment now? ACK ACK :-/
