Thank you so much for the explanation and the examples. It helps me understand somewhat. I was wondering about putting a banner in there and how it would effect placement. I will experiment some more.

Code Update!
Took out the part of the code that removed the menubg class so that the user may still use menubg to style the menu.
If you aren't having this issue, there is no need to change your code.

Hi Sub - I've just been having a mess about with my site and couldn't get the menu background to go 'transparent'. After an hour or so of double checking and moving codes etc - I found some info that said that the gradient option in the skin must be set to NO. I did it and everything works great !
Just thought I' d let you know in case soemone else is having a problem with this - OR you know a work around - OR you know what I was doing wrong in the first place !

You didn't do anything "wrong", this happened because of my last update. Previously, I removed the class from the menu (which removed the background if you had Auto Gradients turned on). But, removing the class prevented users from customizing their menu with CSS (changing font size, color etc...). As you found out, turning off Auto Gradients made it transparent, but you also loose the gradients forum wide. If you want to use Auto Gradients and just remove the gradient from the menu, put this CSS in your Global Header.

I'll update the code post with this extra info. Thanks for the heads up!

Can it be modified so they don't please ?

Hi Mac,
I had a look at your main site and I'm not seeing any of these 3 buttons in IE or FF that are removed by your code:

I'm only seeing: Home : Log In : Register

If it's still happening can you PM me a test account name/password as it's working for guests on the home page, but I can't get past that page as a guest.
