Here is a basic table you can use. It is from Smangii's sidetables

<!-- ===== BOX 1 START ===== -->
<table id="sidetables" class="bordercolor" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1">
<tr><td align="center" class="titlebg">
Side Box Title
</td></tr>
<tr><td class="windowbg">
Replace this text with anything you want to appear in this box.<br />
<b>To add images, links, and styles, you must use HTML, not UBBC.</b>

</td></tr></table>

Change the sky blue parts. The first one is your title and the second is the content of the cell.

Do you have a certain thing in mind that you need help with in adding?

Well hello, I'm surprised to find you still here. I am having a wonderful time. Just found your one size fits all code am playing with it.

I know a very little about CSS and HTML codes and wasn't sure what I could install. I have used Smangii's side tables before and really liked them for ease of use and installation, but wasn't sure if they would work in your Peekaboo program. I just love that name. Makes me smile. Obviously I'm a mother an a grandmother. Because the way the code works is exactly like I used to play with the kids, now you see me, now you don't... love it!!

But anyway, back to usable content. I had side tables before and some of my members griped about it making the board too wide so this new code is a blessing. They can open or not, no skin off my back. But I'm not sure of content and what will work with the code. There are a lot of widgets out there, some not so great. I don't have a role-playing site so don't need a lot of links to threads, etc., but I know my members like things like kicky games, food channels, joke of the day... you know, silly stuff.

Basically I just want to maybe load a graphic as a header and link to site. (Hopefully spam free!)

I'm glad I'm bringing a little joy in your life! Yup. I like the name too. Very fitting! :)

And you can put anything in there that you can put in smagii's side tables. Widgets, images tables, links, chat box etc... It really is limited to your imagination.

For those sites you mentioned, you could just use a small image that is a link.
Like so:

<a href="URL TO SITE"><img src="URL TO IMAGE" border="0" /></a>

The main reason I made this code is because, personally, I hate side tables because they usually make the forum too wide and most people put stupid useless things in there just to have "something" in them.
I'm a practical person. It must be useful to members. And if they don't want to see the side tables (especially users with smaller screen sizes), one click "POOF" and gone. I'm still debating what content our members here may find useful (if we put in the peekaboo side tables).

You and me both, Sub. I don't care for side tables myself. But they do add a certain panache to a website,. And to be honest, they can serve a purpose for many people. I certainly don't intend on rushing around finding lots of interesting things to stick in there. But I know my members like things like historical facts or quotes and tidbits about the news and animals, blah blah blah.

Thanks for your help, SubDevo. I still haven't figured the code out completely, but I like it!

oooh pick me ... pick me .... *raises hand*

what I did was there's a part that states 'PLACE ALL RIGHT/LEFT SIDE STUFF HERE'. You place what you want there. You may have to tweak it a bit to get what you like,but that should do it.

If I'm wrong. I'm sure someone is going to correct me.

lol, Ok, La Reina, I'll pick you. :D Thanks. I haven't used side tables a lot because of the nuisance value, but this Peekaboo effect is fantastic.

Sub, one of the absolute best uses of a side table I have seen is a friend of mine that has a tutorial site. She has links to the main features of the sites for quick access. Like in your case, you would use a quick access to Rules, Proboards Codes, Premade graphics, etc. You could even move your chat in there, or not.

One thing I had which I will include in the new Peekaboo is the staff. I think it's a bit confusing for new members to know who's who? Especially if they aren't aware they can discover that by looking in the Members area. But even then, I've been to sites that have so called staff that haven't posted in a year. ??? But I definitely won't be sticking things in there just for having "stuff." Only a few of my members like the games, like Hangman, but those few really missed them when I removed the tables. So I can give them their games without infringing on the "sensitivities" of the rest of the member.s ;D

I love new toys like this, Sub, keep 'em coming. :)

Just wanted to say how much I love this code. 8-) I'm a real fan of your codes because they seem to come from a very creative mind and have lots of options for the user. :)

I was wondering what peekaboo tables were and now I know - Fantastic ! Just what I need. I'm currently using smangiis side tables in some pages of my test site , which are good - but this is much better for my purposes.
Cheers !

Sub, I am finishing up my skin, and the Peekaboo was the last stage. I hit a snag.

http://jetsky.proboards.com/index.cgi?

Everything looked sort of thrown together and I figured I needed to start over. I haven't used side tables in a couple of years so it was a learning process, I think I got an U for unsatisfactory.

Well, anyway, I was using Smangii's tables and just realized that there is a part Two of his code and I never put it in my codes after adding your Peek one and wasn't sure if it was necessary. But then I looked at your code advice again, and you gave a basic table code and now I'm flummoxed. I'm pretty irked because I remember spending a week or so learning these darned tables, enough to teach a friend of mine a few years ago and now it's like dust in an attic, worthless. I'm pretty irritated bacause I learned how to add a title bar, and breaks and such but now it looks like crap. [image]

The problems I am having are that the tables don't mesh smoothly, there is a funky background color I can't find and I have that bottom scroll bar you warned about and I think I have all my sizes set correctly. Grrrrrr!!! This was my last task before loading a new skin and I'm just burned out after working on this for two months.

Sorrty to be ranting and raving, Sub. I'm probably just tired and cranky from all the rain and an obnoxious member. *sigh*

lol, yeah. I turned it off because I was getting ready to load member/personal stuff. LOLLOLLOL You cracked me up. thanks, I needed that. Shoot, I'm still laughing and my husband is looking at me like I've lost my mind.

Edit, Ok, done. And I'm still lauging. Goodness gracious this is fun.

Edit #2! I did it, I did it all by myself, I found out why I had that scrollbar on the bottom, it was a horizontal graphic that was a few pixels too wide. *JJ is doing the happy dance!!* I am woman hear me roar. Yahoo!

Ok, I looked at your crap... ;D
Your widths are set correctly in the code. So you are good there. ;)

Remove the Red in the following (side table HTML)

<!-- ===== BOX #2 START ===== -->
<table align="center" width="100%" class="bordercolor" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="4">
<tr>

<tr>

The above may fix the horizontal bar (I noticed there is a horizontal bar at the bottom of your forum too...hmmm)

What color is the color you are trying to get rid of? The dark green?

EDIT:
Just saw your edit. Congratulations! 8-)

Yes, that's right, the Dark Green. I fixed a few things. I am at PSP changing the Peek bar so there is no white edge. Too many white things going on in there. That is the code I have going on in the main board itself for a sculptured look. It would be nice to turn it off for the Peekaboo code.

I don't see a horizontal bar at the bottom of the forum?

Sorry to be so long answering. I just spent about twenty minutes making and remaking a 'mouseover' bar for the edge of the Peekaboo that didn't have white in it. I thought I had lost my mind because when I went to plug it in I saw this '" at the end and thought I had made a mistake since there were three of the things. Finally checked out the original code and I wasn't nuts.

The 'hr' lines did let the background I was using to bleed through, but they look sort of dorky sticking out in the middle of things. There is too much space under the first table, but it looks nice at the bottom. lol And the other tables don't match the first table. I HATE tables. All I wanted to do was add a few games for my members like hangman and this windchime thing they like and I'm ready to blow a gasket again. I think I need to take up knitting.

I'm closing shop for the night, Sub.Devo. If I don't come back, look for me on a sandbar in the south sipping a rum and coke with a twist of lime.
